Nico Paz will stay at Como for the 2026/27 season, AS have reported.
The Argentina attacker was set to return to Real Madrid, but conversations with Jose Mourinho saw the plan break down.
Paz is from Madrid’s academy and Real possess a buy-back option in his contract worth around €9million for arguably the best player in Serie A last season.
Madrid had earlier informed Como that they would activate the option, but they have now backtracked.
AS say Paz has told Madrid he won’t be returning and has requested another season with Como in the Champions League.
Paz was ready to return before Mourinho hire
They add that Paz previously discussed his return with club officials, but since they hired Mourinho as coach for next season, a change to the plan was best for everyone.
Mourinho wouldn’t be able to guarantee Paz the playing time he’s looking for, preferring to rely on older players, and also in the market to sign Bernardo Silva in attacking midfield.
The €9m option in Paz’s contract expires on June 30th, but Madrid can still make a move for €10m next summer.
