Scott McTominay looks set to extend his Napoli stay despite an underwhelming season for Antonio Conte’s side.
Corriere dello Sport claim that his agent Colin Murdock travelled from England and met with sporting director Giovanni Manna this week.
Both the club and McTominay want to continue working together, with an extension in his contract beyond its current 2028 expiry and instead to 2030 under discussion.
However, in the short term things aren’t looking so great.
Napoli are already out of the Champions League with Conte’s dreadful record in the competition continuing, and they were recently knocked out of the Coppa Italia.
The Serie A title is also out of reach, meaning the only success this season will be the Supercoppa.
Yet things could get worse. With McTominay out of action due to an injury, Napoli have already lose to rivals for European football Como.
Roma are next up to potentially damage things even further, and then comes yet another top side Atalanta.
Failing to qualify for next season’s Champions League is looking like a distinct possibility, showing why Napoli need to get McTominay tied down before things get any worse.
