Ruben Amorim has received glowing reviews from two of AC Milan’s most prominent media voices.
The former Manchester United coach won his first two matches in Italy before an acceptable 1-1 draw away at Juventus on Sunday night.
It’s been a strong start for the Portuguese who dealt with upheaval in the transfer market but finished on a high.
He managed to convince Luka Modric to stay and convinced Goncalo Ramos to sign, and two of the club’s former defensive stalwarts are impressed.
Amorim an upgrade on Allegri
Gianluca Zambrotta commented: “I liked the change of mentality he has already managed to bring.
“He revolutionised the team with a different approach from Allegri’s: he looks for higher pressure, creates much more, and these are important steps.
“In the first two games, the substitutions made the difference, because Rabiot and Saelemaekers brought the goals: injecting freshness and overcoming the opponent in 1v1 situations to create superiority is always important.”
Alessandro Costacurta added: “He intrigues me.
“I watched some of his games when he coached Sporting — his work at United is beyond reproach: it’s a difficult environment, a club, a group of players, very difficult.
“His Sporting was one of those teams that prefers to provoke the opponent’s mistake rather than wait for them to make one. So, even taking some risks, Amorim wants to force the opponent’s mistake. For that reason alone, I already like him.”

Milan’s transfer window also impresses
The pair then moved onto the club’s work in the transfer market, with Costacurta praising how they dealt with Rafael Leao’s move to Galatasaray.
“I regret that Rafael Leao didn’t show all his qualities at Milan,” he said. “After the initial enthusiasm and energy, he settled into a comfort zone.
“Letting go of someone like him to put Cissé in the game, a lad who was at Catanzaro in Serie B last year, is something that pleases me. This year, I will be much more eager to watch Milan than in the recent past.”
Zambrotta concluded: “They found in Gil Vicente a strong defender with character, and although he missed some goals, I liked the work done by Goncalo Ramos.
“It’s also necessary to be in the right position to create goal-scoring opportunities, and then it’s expected that he will convert more chances.
“I like this AC Milan team; they started very well and have a lot of room to improve.”
