Rafael Leao has taken it upon himself to announce his AC Milan departure.
The Portuguese winger has been linked with an exit all summer after talking up the posibility himself.
Milan won their season opener 2-0 against Venezia without the winger, but he did appear in front of journalists post-match.
Leao announces Galatasaray departure
“I said goodbye to my teammates after seven years,” he said.
“Milan helped me grow and understand what top-level football is really about. I would have liked to say goodbye in a different way.
“I know what I’ve accomplished here, I will remain in the club’s history. All I can do is say ‘thank you’.”
According to Sky Italia, Leao and Milan have agreed a €45million move to Galatasaray.
Leao was previously approached by an influencer with a Gala shirt during Milan’s pre-season and told him: “You’re being dumb.”
He then got a warning from head coach Ruben Amorim over his desire to leave the club.
Amorim gives Leao a dressing down
“I have the feeling that all the players are working very well,” Amorim said.
“Rafa is lucky to be at a club like Milan, so he must be happy. I feel he is happy and motivated.”
Amorim then turned his attention to Modric, adding: “Luka is very humble and doesn’t like all the attention he receives.
“He has enormous experience and I will treat him like a normal player. He will have to fight for his place, but of course he is a special player.
“I’m very happy with the team I have. We are building our game plan. If we have to start the season with this team, I think we will be competitive in every game and that we can win every game.”
