UPDATE: Real Madrid and Valverde statements on Tchouameni bust-up
Real Madrid and Fede Valverde have both released statements on an incredible bust up between the Uruguayan and teammate Aurelien Tchouameni.
There were initially reports of a confrontation between the pair, and then today an update came in the form of a hospital trip for Valverde with a head injury.
Real Madrid first confirmed Valverde will miss the Clasico against Barcelona with a head injury, and then announced proceedings against both players.
“Real Madrid CF announces that, following the events that took place this morning in the first team’s training session, it has decided to open separate disciplinary proceedings against our players Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouameni,” Los Blancos wrote.
“The club will announce the resolutions of both cases in due course, once the corresponding internal procedures have been completed.”
In another statement, they said of Valverde: “Following tests carried out today on our player Fede Valverde by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a head injury.
“Valverde is at home in good condition and will need to rest for 10 to 14 days, as per medical protocols for this diagnosis.”
Valverde has now spoken out in a lengthy social media statement, denying the injury came from Tchouameni.
Valverde’s statement
“Yesterday I had an incident with a teammate as a result of a play in training, where the fatigue of the competition and the frustration made everything bigger.
“In a normal locker room, these things can happen and are resolved internally without becoming public. Clearly, there’s someone behind this, spreading the story quickly, and coupled with a trophyless season where Real Madrid is always under scrutiny, everything is blown out of proportion.
“Today we had another disagreement. During the argument, I accidentally bumped my head on a table, causing a small cut on my forehead that required a routine visit to the hospital.
“At no point has my partner hit me and I haven’t hit him either, although I understand that for you it’s easier to believe that we got into a fistfight or that it was intentional, but that didn’t happen.
“I feel that my anger with the situation, my frustration at seeing some of us reaching the end of the season with our last bit of strength, breaking our spirits, has reached the point where I’ve argued with a teammate.
“I’m sorry. I’m truly sorry because this situation hurts me, this moment we’re going through hurts me. Real Madrid is one of the most important things in my life, and I can’t be indifferent to it. The result is an accumulation of things that culminate in a senseless fight, damaging my image and leaving room for the possibility that they’ll fabricate, defame, and embellish an incident. I have no doubt that any disagreements we might have off the field cease to exist on it, and if I have to defend it inside a stadium, I’ll be the first.
“I wasn’t going to speak out until the end of the season. We were eliminated from the Champions League, and I kept my anger and resentment to myself. We’ve wasted another year, and I wasn’t in a position to be posting on social media when the only face I had to show was on the pitch, and I feel that’s what I did. That’s why I’m the one who’s most saddened and hurt to be in this situation that prevents me from playing the next match due to medical decisions. I always gave it my all, to the very end, and it hurts me more than anyone not to be able to do so. I’m available to the club and my teammates to collaborate on any decision they deem necessary. Thank you.”
New details have emerged from the latest training ground bust-up at Real Madrid and they’re pretty sensational.
Reports yesterday claimed Fede Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni were the latest pair of teammates to come to blows.
It’s now being reported by Marca that Valverde was actually taken to hospital due to a cut to the head.
The cut was from a table duping the altercation, and Valverde is likely to now miss this weekend’s Clasico against Barcelona.
Marca reports that sources told the outlet: “Valverde refused to shake Tchouaméni ‘s hand in the morning, thus beginning a very hostile session that ended with a serious fight in the dressing room at the end of training.
“In the ensuing altercation between the two, unintentionally, and not caused by a blow from Tchouaméni, Fede suffered a severe contusion from the corner of a table, resulting in a cut that required him to go to the hospital.
“These same sources indicate that the hard tackles during the session, especially from the Uruguayan, were constant, which finally caused the French player to snap.”
They add that this was “the most serious ever seen at Valdebebas” and the fight escalated from the outset, requiring the intervention of several team members.
Furthermore: “The magnitude of the incident prompted an emergency meeting in the locker room just minutes after the altercation, with José Ángel Sánchez attending and disciplinary proceedings opened against the two players, which could result in fines or suspension from the team.
“Not a single player left the training complex during this unprecedented crisis meeting.
“The aim is to put an end to all these problems and try to stem the escalating tension that is causing serious concern at the highest levels of the club.
“Currently, the atmosphere at Real Madrid is extremely tense, with nerves, internal division, and a growing sense that the situation is far from being resolved.”
Multiple Real Madrid fights this year
Incredibly, this is far from the first incident this week, letalone this year.
Alvaro Carreras earlier confirmed a bust-up with Antonio Rudiger, and it’s since been claimed the defensive duo have clashed more than once.
Meanwhile, new reports have come in that Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe had to be separated during half-time in a January match.
While many of the incidents have come from media reports, Carreras revealed a conflict with Mbappe in a statement.
“Regarding the incident with a teammate, it was a minor, isolated matter that has already been resolved,” he wrote on Instagram earlier this week.
“My relationship with the entire team is excellent. Hala Madrid!”
Madrid face Barcelona on Sunday at Camp Nou where Barca can clinch the LaLiga title, confirming a trophyless season for Madrid.
With everything on the line, Mbappe is now copping more heat for a lack of professionalism.
His trips out of the country while injured have caused uproar, and now it’s emerged he may miss this weekend’s Clasico with a minor muscle strain.
As such, he’s been accused of putting France and the World Cup ahead of his club.
Leading pundit Antonio Romero said: “I think Mbappé has been managing his physical condition for some time to arrive at the final stage of the World Cup in top form.
“In the end, muscle strain is an injury that depends on the player.
“I can’t wrap my head around the idea of a player like Kylian Mbappé missing a Clásico at such a crucial stage of the season, especially if, for example, the league title was on the line.
“Because muscle strain isn’t an injury that should make you miss an important match.
“I think he has shown that his image, in terms of what the Real Madrid fans might think, matters very little to him.”
To make matters worse, Mbappe was then seen leaving Valdebebas chuckling away with his car window open for all the media to see.
