It was only their second defeat of the season, but Xabi Alonso’s decision making away at Anfield could have caused him some problems.
Real Madrid lost 1-0 to Liverpool in the Champions League and things could’ve been far worse with Thibaut Courtois putting on an eight-save masterclass.
However, it was his decision late on to substitute on former Liverpool man Trent Alexander-Arnold that has allegedly caused some problems.
The right back was playing for just nine minutes in his first game since September, and was roundly booed by the crowd, something his teammates deemed unnecessary.
Josep Pedrerol commented on El Chiringuito: “In the dressing room there are players who believe that Xabi Alonso is cold and doesn’t understand them.
“They also don’t understand why he exposed Trent at Anfield.”
