Alvaro Arbeloa is facing his first big revolt as Real Madrid head coach due to his calls at right-back.
The newbie first team manager took Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dani Carvajal with him for the 2-0 win over Valencia, but instead started his academy player David Jiménez.
Both Carvajal and Trent had been declared fit, but only the latter made it on the pitch in the 76th minute.
Carvajal has been available since Arbeloa replaced Xabi Alonso but was involved in his debut defeat against Albacete in the Copa del Rey.
Since then he’s played just 14 minutes, against Monaco, and Mundo Deportivo report that a ‘firestorm’ is brewing.
The captain looked livid on the bench, and post-match was seen in an intense conversation with fitness coach Antonio Pintus.
Commenting on the matter post-match, Arbeloa said: “I see Dani improving all the time. He’s progressing little by little.
“We always listen to him in the locker room; he’s important to the players. He’ll find his best form with the patience we’re showing.”
