Vinicius Jr was brought to tears before Brazil’s first knockout game of the World Cup.
Brazil take on Japan in the last 32 of the 2026 tournament and Vinicius has so far been the stand-out player for the record champions.
As such, he took part in some media duties before the match, and got emotional on Domingão com Huck with host Luciano Huck.
Vinicius’ message from his grandmother
The host said: “I have brought a message from a woman who fills your heart and loves you very much.
“She is far away at the moment, but I believe all of Brazil wishes she were near you. I would even go so far as to say that she is the woman of your life.”
Huck then played a message from Vinicius’ grandmother, provoking tears from the Real Madrid megastar.
“Whenever I can, I am with her to enjoy every moment, because I know that everyone has to leave someday – that’s why I cherish the time with my family,” he said.
“They did everything they could to make my dream come true.”

He added: “She is a very special person because my father always lived far from home.
“So I grew up with my mother, my brothers and sisters, and my grandmother.
“The house was small, and I slept with her countless nights. I am speechless. She shaped my life.
“I know that the day will come when people will leave us, so I cherish every moment spent with her. Seeing her happy is priceless.”
Vinicius’ biggest battle
Vinicius then went on to discuss his fight against racism.
“These victories off the pitch are far more important than those I win on it,” he said. “Because that’s how I help so many more people.
“Of course, progress is slow, but I hope it will continue so that the next generation doesn’t have to endure the same suffering.
“I have a little brother who is seven years old, and I hope he will never face racism.
“I want to achieve great things on the pitch, but also continue to inspire young black people who don’t have the same voice as me.”
