The ever-vocal Thibaut Courtois has turned his aim on LaLiga president Javier Tebas over scheduling.
Real Madrid were knocked out of the Club World Cup by PSG and will now have a brief holiday before pre-season training.
As such, Los Blancos have requested the postponement of their first two LaLiga matches with the season kicking off in just a month’s time.
Tebas has rejected the request, deeming it Madrid’s fault for taking part in yet another lucrative competition.
Responding to his snub, Courtois said: “It’s always the same story with him.
“I’ve never heard a president in Italy or England make comments like that.
“We’re not on holiday, we just played the Club World Cup, an official FIFA event.
“We are the only sport in the world that plays for 11-12 months a year. This is the fundamental error. I hope that La Liga will reflect and postpone the match, perhaps by a week.
“They may not appreciate the Club World Cup, but it exists, we’re here and they deserve to respect our recovery and our preparation.”
