Sven Mislintat’s return to Borussia Dortmund was shrouded in controversy after a disastrous stint at Ajax, and things have only gotten worse three months in.
The former head scout turned director of football was re-hired by BVB as a ‘technical director and squad planner’ but was told his remit would be using his scouting network and connections to find new players.
However, in a report corroborated by Kicker, WAZ , Ruhr Nachrichten and Bild, it’s been claimed that Mislintat has ‘exceeded his authority’ on multiple occasions since returning, entering into negotiations with other players and clubs.
This has led to clashes with sporting directors Sebastian Kehl and Lars Ricken, and now it’s publically known that he’s causing ‘internal trouble’ at Dortmund.
Mislintat’s former roles at Ajax and Stuttgart saw him as an out-and-out sporting director, and fears that he may struggle to adapt to a less involved role have quickly been realised.
