Romelu Lukaku has responded to Antonio Conte digging him out with an unusual social media reply.
Lukaku‘s relationship with Napoli passed its breaking point when the striker refused to return to training in March, opting to treat his injury at home in Belgium.
He’s had two hefty fines for the act, before he was seen jetting into Napoli last week to meet club officials.
Reports in Italy claimed he avoided his teammates and coach, just attending the training centre for an hour before heading straight back to Antwerp.
Conte confirmed those claims, saying in a press conference: “My office was there and no one knocked on the door.
“That really upset me. I would have expected a greeting, a message, something.
“In these situations, you try to understand everyone a little. The coach makes an effort, and no one makes an effort to understand the coach.”
Lukaku has since seemed to respond to Conte on Instagram.
“Protecting your peace isn’t selfish. It’s necessary,” he wrote, making the distance between the player, club and coach, even worse than it already was.
