Antonio Conte has as good as called an end to his iconic relationship with Romelu Lukaku.
The pair formed a formidable partnership at Inter Milan, and planned to do the same at Napoli before it all went south.
A Serie A title last season suggested a new era, but Lukaku has been off form this season and crucially injured.
To make matters worse, he refused to return to Napoli for treatment, staying at home in Belgium against the club’s wishes.
That was until a trip over during the week, with Lukaku filmed heading from the airport to the training ground.
It was reported that he only met the club’s sporting director, avoiding Conte and his teammates, something the coach has since confirmed.
“I haven’t had the chance to speak to him,” Conte said after a 4-0 win over Cremonese.
“I know one of our directors spoke to us and that he came to the training centre.
“My office was there, but no one knocked on my door. I was very disappointed about that.
“I would have expected a greeting, a message, or something. The coach has to try to understand everyone, but no one is making the effort to understand the coach in this case.”
