Bradley Barcola has reached a verbal agreement with Andoni Iraola and Liverpool.
L’Equipe report that the PSG forward has been in talks with the new Reds coach and has chosen Anfield as his next home.
They add that no contract has been signed, and clubs are in negotiations but are ‘far’ from reaching a deal on the transfer.
The 23-year-old earlier opted against renewing his contract in Paris which expires in 2028.
A deal between Barcola and Liverpool is still a long way off
Reports in Italy claimed on Monday that a transfer to Liverpool was done, but L’Equipe say the verbal agreement doesn’t mean as such.
Barcola spoke to Iraola and other Liverpool executives and is now keen on the move, but there is a ‘significant’ gap between the two teams’ valuations.
Barcola played the most games of any PSG player in another Champions League winning season, but wasn’t a first-choice starter, regularly coming off the bench.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have a massive gap up front after allowing likely their best player of the 21st century, Mohamed Salah, to leave for free.
The Reds have shown no signs of penny pinching in recent years, spending a staggering £450million last summer, only to end the season trophyless.
PSG, meanwhile, haven’t showed such willingness to spend this summer, backing out of a deal for Leipzig’s Yan Diomande after Real Madrid gazumped their offer.
Their priorities also appear to lie elsewhere, with new reports that Luis Enrique has instructed club executives to make Rodri their top summer target.
Earlier reports from L’Equipe claimed PSG have set a massive price tag of €120m for Barcola, or £102m, just short of what Liverpool paid for Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak last summer.
