Max Eberl’s Club World Cup departure is a reason for concern at Bayern Munich, says club legend Lothar Matthaus.
The sporting director left his team’s trip to the US amid a number of blows in the transfer market.
Florian Wirtz chose Liverpool over Bayern and now Nico Williams looks set for Barcelona.
Leroy Sane also chose a free switch to Galatasaray rather than a Munich renewal.
Giving his take on events, Matthaus said: “Max Eberl’s departure from the USA shows that there is a certain nervousness. For Eberl, signing an attacker is more important than the Club World Cup.
“After Wirtz ‘s rejection and Nico Williams’ likely move to Barcelona , this situation is a hot topic, especially since Tel was sold and Sane didn’t want to stay with the offer presented.
“This next transfer will be very important for Eberl.”
Other players linked with joining Bayern’s forward group are PSG’s Bradley Barcola, Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo and AC Milan’s Rafael Leao.
