The only way is out for Max Eberl at Bayern Munich.
That’s according to club great Didi Hamann who has given his take on a dramatic week at management level.
After a disastrous transfer window where Bayern lost out on top targets Florian Wirtz and Nick Woltemade, honorary president Uli Hoeness went on TV and made a series of bombshell comments.
Among them was his critique of sporting director Max Eberl, responding to his complaints about the window by saying: “Max is pretty sensitive…”
Hoeness also said: “The moment we have the right people in the right position, Karl-Heinz and I will step down,” suggesting Eberl isn’t the right man.
Hamann has since responded, saying: “The statements lead me to believe that the relationship will end in the foreseeable future.
“I don’t know how things should continue after what was said.
“They shouldn’t talk about each other publicly, but rather with each other. These are things they have to resolve at some point.”
Fellow high-profile pundit Lothar Matthaus also criticised the club great, saying: “I found most of what Uli said embarrassing.
“Not only regarding me or Max Eberl, but also his statements regarding Nicolas Jackson’s contract details.”
