Thomas Tuchel will still be in charge of Bayern Munich against Arsenal, according to his bosses.
Tuchel’s side reached another nadir as they fell 3-2 against Bundesliga minnows Heidenheim despite leading 2-0.
The humiliation leaves Bayer Leverkusen on the brink of a first league title, able to finish the job next weekend with two games to go.
All that’s left for Bayern is the Champions League, which could mean even more embarrassment against Arsenal next up in the quarter-finals.
With calls to replace the UCL winner for the purposes of a morale boost and to savour the season, sporting director Christoph Freund was asked if Tuchel will be in place against the Gunners.
“Yes, one hundred per cent, everyone has to take a look at themselves,” he said.
“Everyone has to look in the mirror, we are talking about an issue that we as a group have to question, and that it is not acceptable.
“Tuchel is trying everything to bring energy in. We all know that we can and must do things differently.”
Perhaps tellingly, though, Freund’s co-director Max Eberl wasn’t so effusive.
“He’s definitely going to stay for the next few weeks,” said Eberl.
Club legend Lothar Matthaus thinks a call could come earlier, saying: “Thomas Tuchel can no longer reach the team.
“There are strange press conferences, there are strange statements, there are strange criticisms from him and that’s why I could imagine that Bayern will even react in the next 24 or 48 hours.
“It can’t go on like this, the team needs new impetus and Thomas Tuchel can no longer give that.”
