Real Madrid might be top of LaLiga, but the criticism of their performances is proving a little too much for some.
Los Blancos leapfrogged Atletico Madrid into first place last weekend, but the fallout continues from an embarrassing 5-2 Supercopa final defeat to fiercest rivals Barcelona.
Carlo Ancelotti was booed ahead of a win over Celta Vigo in the Copa del Rey, and then after topping Atleti he took on the media, saying the criticism has been too much.
He may well have a point, given that Barca are on their worst run in 50 years.
By falling to a 1-1 draw against Getafe at the weekend they now have just one victory in their past eight LaLiga games.
That’s taken them from the top of the league to third, seven points behind Real.
Yet Hansi Flick is still being praised for his big game performances, with his other Clasico in LaLiga a 4-0 humiliation at the Bernabeu in October.
But Real Madrid fans have had the perfect response to the argument of style over substance, making a clip of Jose Mourinho go viral.
Back when he was taking on Pep Guardiola during the peak of the Clasico rivalry, Mourinho was asked about his team not playing as attractive football.
His response, which has now gone viral again, was simply: “Dos palabras, somos leaders,” or “Two words, we’re [league] leaders.”
