Nuris Sahin is on hiw way out of Borussia Dortmund, but his bosses aren’t very imaginative.
Sky Germany report that defeat next time out against Bologna in the Champions League will seal his exit, and it’s a result that many are expecting.
BVB‘s away form has been disasterious, and have lost two on the bounce on the road, away at Holstein Kiel and Eintracht Frankfurt.
Should the trend continue in Italy, the former midfielder and club legend will be gone, but people aren’t exactly queing up to replace him.
Sky add that two big names linked, Roger Schmidt and Sandro Wagner, have ruled them out.
Of the names so far mentioned to save their season, Erik ten Hag is the only candidate that may be keen for a return, but given his unpopularity from his time at Manchester United, he likely won’t inspire many fans.
Sky also mention that Sebastian Hoeness is admired by BVB‘s bosses, but with a Stuttgart contract until 2027, a mid-season move would be very unlikely, particularly a sideways one.
Ten Hag does have some experience in Germnay as Bayern Munich’s B-team coach where he learned under Pep Guardiola.
And with United proving uncoachable under his replacement Ruben Amorim, maybe a return to his Ajax glory days at Dortmund isn’t quite off the cards.
