Marseille’s desperate search to replace Marcelinho has ended quickly with Gennaro Gattuso.
The former Milan and Valencia manager replaces the departing Spaniard who walked out at OM after just seven games.
Legendary former Italy stalwart Gattuso takes the role, having been out of the game since the start of the year when he left disaster club Valencia.
Despite not being widely considered among the elite, Gattuso has impressed at both Milan and Napoli earlier in his career and has certainly displayed the type of fighting spirit that may help Marseille overcome their current crisis.
Speaking to the club’s website, Gattuso said: Gennaro Gattuso: “ I am very happy and proud to join Olympique de Marseille.
“A club and a stadium, the Orange Vélodrome, in which I had the opportunity to evolve as a player, famous throughout Europe for the passion and fervor that emanates from it.
“I can’t wait to get to work with my new group and take on the next challenges that lie ahead.”
