Gennaro Gattuso hasn’t held back on his players before a crucial Europa League fixture against Ajax.
Marseille, who currently sit top of Group B, could qualify with a victory, but it’s not all good news.
In Ligue 1 OM are winless in four, and have slumped to 12th in the table under Gattuso, who replaced Marcelino earlier this season.
Discussing what’s wrong with the team, the legendary former Milan player said: “It’s a mental problem, it concerns the whole team.
“Not that of a single player who is not playing well. It’s not a physical problem. The match data was good, similar to that of the opponent.
“The problem lies in the fear, the quality of the game, poor marking, all of that at the same time.
“We have already seen that over 15, 20 minutes, which is already a problem, that’s why I was upset, when you see a team that doesn’t apply at all what has been prepared, it’s normal for a coach to be concerned.
“We have to raise the level of the team. I am sure that this team has qualities, a lot of good things.
“When a player signs a contract here, he must know where he is going. If it surprises him that the fans are angry when you don’t win… The fans are not happy, that’s normal. And a player who signs here must know that.
“Our priority at the moment is to respect the jersey, the history of the club, but we must not think about the anger of the supporters.”
