The Marseille Criminal Court has sentenced all eight defendants, including Toulouse president Damien Comolli, in the high-profile ‘fake agents’ case.
As per RMC Sport, sentences were handed down on Monday morning, ranging from suspended prison sentences to fines and bans from working in football.
The case surrounded the illegal practice of operating as a sports agent without a licence, with former Liverpool and Tottenham sporting director Comolli being the most prominent name involved.
However, he received the second-most lenient sentence of the eight defendants, a €30,000 fine and a one-year ban from office, which may leave Toulouse without a sporting director.
The biggest sentence was given to the second most high-profile figure involved, John Valovic-Galtier, the son of former Ligue 1-winning Lille coach Christophe Galtier.
He was given a €300,000 fine, a two-year suspended prison sentence and five-year ban from office.
The full sentences are as follows:
- Two years suspended prison sentence, 300,000 euros fine and five years ineligibility for John Valovic-Galtier.
- One year suspended prison sentence, 200,000 euros fine and five years of ineligibility for David Venditelli.
- One year suspended prison sentence, 100,000 euros fine and five years of ineligibility for Jérémie Sutter.
- One year suspended prison sentence, 50,000 euros fine, a five-year ban on working as an agent and five years of ineligibility for Alexandre Bonnefond.
- Six months suspended prison sentence, 5,000 euros fine, a one-year ban on working as an agent and three years of ineligibility for Tristan Sauzon.
- Three months suspended prison sentence, 5,000 euros fine and three years of ineligibility for David Wantier.
- Damien Comolli fined 30,000 euros and banned from office for one year.
- 10,000 euros fine and one year of ineligibility against Emmanuel Desplats.
