It’s only been three days since Kylian Mbappe confirmed his PSG departure, but Luis Enrique is already bored of the subject.
Mbappe will be joining Real Madrid on a free transfer after seven years in the French capital, bringing to an end one of the most tedious transfer sagas we’ve seen in recent times.
It was clear from the outset of the 2023/24 campaign that the striker would be departing, having not signed a contract extension, and Luis Enrique began preparing accordingly.
Mbappe was regularly substituted early by the Spaniard and often benched for matches in an attempt to start getting things ready for 2024/25.
Despite that, the pair maintained an impressively cordial relationship, and have been in constant praise of each other over the weekend.
However, when Luis Enrique’s most recent press conference was focused on Mbappe, it was clear the coach had had enough.
A former treble-winning manager at Barcelona, Luis Enrique was asked what the pressure and environment is like in Spain in regards to Mbappe, and he replied in deadpan style.
“I think today is a rainy day, but at the same time, it’s very nice, because it allows you to breathe some fresh air,” he replied.
“It’s different and I like rainy days. It reminds me of my land of Gijón. I’m 100% from Gijón, ‘playu’ as we say there. I think I answered what you asked perfectly.”
