Lamine Yamal is the latest victim of LaLiga camera lip-reading, but he may have a get out of jail free card.
The Barcelona starlet has been the focus of DAZN’s day-later coverage of Spanish football, specifically his reaction to a late substitution.
Coach Hansi Flick and president Joan Laporta both had to defend the player for similar scenes in December, but this time there may be more at play.
Cameras caught Lamine looking away from Flick as he trundled off in the 82nd minute of the 1-0 win over Rayo Vallecano, saying ‘always me’ and counting out loud.
Yet it’s now being pointed out that the teen star was booked moments before and may well have been frustrated at the referee rather than Flick.
What did Flick say last time?
When Lamine was clearly angry at him back in December, Flick joked: “Next time he’ll be on the bench.”
He then clarified: “Lamine was a little disappointed with the substitution, but he already had a yellow card and we needed fresh legs on the field.
“This is simply Lamine, he is who he is. I totally understand him, because he thinks he can play at all times.
“It seems fine to me and I have no problem with it. I understand him perfectly because I was also a player. Maybe I wouldn’t show it like this, but I accept the situation without any problems.”
