Kylian Mbappe’s father Wilfried has continued his media rounds, and even picked his son’s next national team coach.
Wilfried was recently in the news on Canal+ denying a so-called ‘Mbappe Method’ where he mastered his sons’ successes with strict parenting and coaching.
Now on C à Vous, he’s spoken about who he wants leading his country’s national team next.
Asked about the heavily-rumoured Zinedine Zidane taking over from Didier Deschamps after the World Cup, he said: “I don’t know if he’s the ideal candidate, but he would be very good.”
Wilfried then went on to defend the man who guided his won to a World Cup win in 2018.
“We’ll realise it later, but it’s going to be very difficult to follow Deschamps,” he said.
“Today, we’ll find plenty of problems with him, but once he leaves, we’ll find plenty of qualities in him.
“We mustn’t forget what he’s accomplished and the record he’ll leave behind. And if it’s Zidane, we’ll all be happy.
“He’s a truly wonderful person. Some people you don’t know, you see them on TV and when you meet them, you can be disappointed. He is the complete opposite.”
