Ajax have been forced to finish their season outside of their Johan Cruyff Arena home due to an unlikely source – Harry Styles.
The final day in the Eredivisie saw Ajax draw against Heerenveen, leaving them fifth in the table.
As such, the record champions now have to enter four-team play-offs for a spot in the third tier Conference League.
Things get worse, though, as Ajax won’t even be able to play at home.
Ajax rent the Cruyff Arena off Amsterdam city, and their lease doesn’t cover beyond the end the last day of the regular season.
The city has instead already rented it out to Styles, who has 10 dates booked in over the coming weeks.
That means Ajax will now have to contest the play-offs against Groningen away at rivals Volendam who have agreed to rent out their stadium.
Yet the issue is now more complicated, as Voldendam finished 16th, sending them into the promotion-relegation play-offs.
They’re now sceduled to play on the 23rd against Willem II, three days after Ajax have booked out their Kras Stadion.
