Bayern Munich legend Oliver Kahn rates Vincent Kompany’s side as good as Pep Guardiola, and thinks Harry Kane has a lot to do with it.
The eight-time Bundesliga winner was discussing Bayern‘s incredible season which has seen them win 26 out of 29 matches, as good as wrapping up the league title with 16 games to spare.
Bayern have matched their previous best start under Guardiola during the 2013/14 season and Kahn sees the dressing room, and in particular Kane, as a reason why.
“I can’t imagine them experiencing a major slump,” he said on Sky.
“What’s striking about this team is that there are no more troublemakers. There’s no player acting like a superstar and disrupting morale. This means everyone wants the same thing.
“All of this is led by someone who hadn’t yet won any major titles. The others can feel how hungry Harry Kane is.
“It’s not about individual interests; everyone wants the same thing: success, to win all three titles. Kane is, in terms of his personality, the most absolute modern leader imaginable in football.
“He’s someone who can take a back seat within the team. He has a natural, very engaging manner. He doesn’t get on anyone’s nerves.
“He’s simply exceptional in this role, and these factors are what bond such a group together.”
