Fenerbahce have found Jose Mourinho’s successor, with Domenico Tedesco to arrive in Istanbul today.
Leading German outlet Kicker have revealed the news, with former Turkey international and Fener regular Gökhan Gönül being considered as his assistant.
Mourinho was sacked on August 29th, weeks after becoming the first Fenerbahce coach to keep his job after a season without winning the Turkish Super Lig title since the 1970s.
Tedesco, meanwhile, has been unemployed since the start of the year when he was sacked by Belgium.
The German coach made his name as an up-and-coming tactician at Schalke, and later worked at Spartak Moscow and Leipzig.
From 2023 he led the Belgian national team, but was best remembered for his confrontation with Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois.
The legendary shot stopper retired from the national team citing Tedesco’s lack of respect in not honouring his 100th game after passing him over for the captaincy.
Courtois has since returned, but when Tedesco earlier commented he’d ‘tried everything’ to get him back, Courtois replied to a social media post with a series of Pinocchio emojis.
