Fenerbahce head coach Domencio Tedesco is currently in hospital battling a serious bout of pneumonia.
The German coach has missed his side’s last two Turkish Super Lig matches and the club have now provided a statement clarifying the situation.
“Our head coach, Domenico Tedesco, is currently being treated for a serious infection,” Fener wrote on Wednesday.
“Therefore, our coach will be unable to officiate tonight’s cup match against Gaziantep.”
According to reports, Tedesco was already told to sit out before his side’s 2-1 Europa League win over Nottingham Forest, but went anyway with Fener knocked out on aggregate.
Some Turkish outlets claim he was shaking in the dressing room and was overcome with dizziness after the match.
Incredibly, the add that he reportedly even attended the pre-match meeting against Antalyaspor with an IV in his arm.
What was first a high fever and a lung infection turned into influenza and now pneumonia. The coach is now being treated with antibiotics and IV therapy.
