Endrick may still only be 19, but he’s shown some wisdom beyond his years in his latest media appearance.
The Real Madrid striker is the subject of numerous headlines in Brazil with many demanding Carlo Ancelotti gives him more minutes.
Last time out on the last 32 against Japan, Ancelotti brought Endrick on at half-time and he flipped the game on its head.
Internet memes are being made about his lack of game time and speculation that Ancelotti doesn’t like him, but Endrick handled the situation perfectly when speaking to the media.
Endrick dismisses Ancelotti feud
“He’s not going to do what’s best for me, for Endrick, or for Matheus Cunha,” he said.
“He’s going to do what’s best for the team.
“He’s not afraid, he does what he thinks, and things happen. It seems like God is watching over him, and he’s enlightened.
“Because everything Carlo does, things happen. When the coach tells me to do something, I won’t look back, I’ll just do what he asks me to do.”
He added on Ancelotti: “It’s a wonderful relationship. He was my first coach when I arrived in Europe.
“For me, having him as my first coach was one of the best experiences. It was incredible, where I could learn from him and his staff, who are very good. It’s no different with the national team.
“I think there couldn’t have been a better fit than having Ancelotti as Brazil’s coach. We hope to continue evolving, which is the most important thing for us in this cycle.”
The teen star also struggled for minutes under Ancelotti at Madrid, but dismissed any controversy when asked about it.
“In my first season with the manager at Real Madrid, I played a lot,” he responded.
“It was only a few minutes, but I was coming on in practically every game. He told me to stay calm, that my moment would come.
“In the Copa del Rey, he gave me more playing time, letting me start in almost every game. I was able to score in practically every game, and I always remained calm.
“The manager is one of the best coaches in the world; he knows exactly what to do. That was clear in the last game.
“The goal was scored by a guy who came off the bench, Martinelli. I think you can rest assured that the manager will always do what’s best for the team.
“I feel very comfortable with him and always follow his advice and that of the staff, from whom we always seek support.”
Endrick learns from Neymar
Endrick also spoke about learning from Neymar too.
“I have a very good relationship with Ney,” he said.
“We can hang out after training and play cards. On a day off I was able to be with him, and he was able to talk to me.
“It’s very important to talk to these people who are the captains of the national team.
“Not just Ney, but Marquinhos, Casão, Alisson. Being around these players and gaining experience from them is a wonderful thing.
“It’s something I always did with Gustavo Gómez at Palmeiras. I always asked him what I could do.
“Surrounding yourself with intelligent people who understand football is always good, and it’s no different with Ney.
“We sit side-by-side when we’re on the bench. And I’m going to try to get the most out of Ney for my career because I still have a lot ahead of me.”
