Endrick’s Lyon unveiling was full of praise for God, but not much for Xabi Alonso.
The Brazilian starlet has joined the Ligue 1 side from Real Madrid until the end of the season having played just a miserly 33 minutes for Los Blancos under Xabi Alonso.
While he may only be 19, Endrick still has his eyes on this summer’s World Cup, and admitted Carlo Ancelotti was pretty honest about his former side.
Reciting his conversations with the Brazil coach, Endrick said: “His advice was really to leave (Real Madrid), to play, to develop my football, where I could play, where I could be happy.
“This decision is mine, but of course, there was a bit of Carlo involved, because he is a great coach, I worked with him, I developed very well with him.”
Explaining why he chose Lyon, he added: “When a club like Lyon came calling, my wife and I said to ourselves, ‘God has put Lyon in my heart and on my path.’ When God tells me something, I go and get it.
“I felt it deep in my heart, and then I started working harder to get here, to be able to help Lyon and my team, because that’s the most important thing. Today my heart is in Lyon, my mind is in Lyon.”
