Luis Enrique is leaving PSG, that’s if you believe everything you read on Twitter.
A rumour spread like wildfire on Elon Musk’s ‘X’ that the Spaniard had refused a contract extension and will leave in the summer for new opportunities.
PSG Sporting director Luis Campos has since called the rumour ‘100% fake news’ while Luis Enrique‘s contract runs until 2027 anyway so it doesn’t even make sense.
A full investigation
Le Parisien have since investigated the drama and determined that it was started on Tuesday afternoon when a Twitter/X user named iThisMeansMore, with 12,000 followers, wrote: “BREAKING NEWS: Luis Enrique WILL NOT RENEW his contract with PSG despite a colossal offer; he wants a new challenge this summer!”
The user cited German outlet BILD as it’s source, despite the tabloid not only being unreliable, but not even posting such a story in the first place.
Nevertheless, that was enough for a number of aggregator accounts to latch on, including ‘The Touchline’ who also cited BILD to their 1.5million followers.
This is why you should always get your news from foot.mundo.
