Davide Ancelotti’s wife has spoken out after a clip of her husband went viral on social media.
Ancelotti will be Lille’s coach for the 2026/27 season, but for now he’s his father Carlo’s assistant with the Brazil national team.
The pair have won plenty together at Real Madrid, with Ancelotti Junior often credited with key substitutions.
So it was no surprise that his reaction to Neymar’s introduction against Scotland caused some issues.
Davide Ancelotti goes viral
The Santos striker was brought on in Brazil’s final group game against Scotland having entered the tournament injured.
When Carlo calls him over, Davide appears to shake his head and his body language isn’t exactly pleased.
The footage quickly went viral, and now his wife Ana has responded.
“Do you know that you are interpreting an image in a completely misguided way, with no relation to reality?” she wrote.
“And that because of this I have been receiving countless insults since this morning?
“We are the first ones who want Brazil to win.”
One popular social media outlet, O Mundo da Bola, posted the image with the caption: “Carlo Ancelotti’s son glares and shakes his head negatively while Neymar receives instructions to enter the field.”
However, full footage shows Davide then getting up to greet Neymar, rubbishing fan theories.
O Globo also investigated the matter and claim that Davide was reacting to a disagreement with fellow assistant Paul Clement.
Neymar’s injury status
Giving an update on Neymar after his Scotland cameo, Carlo said: “It’s a shame he couldn’t train the whole time he was with us, but he can play more than 15 minutes, obviously.
“It will all depend on the context and how the match unfolds.”
Speaking after his return for the first time since October 2023, Neymar said: “I am very happy.
“I thank all Brazilians who encouraged me, especially my family.”
Vinicius Jr commented: “Our idol is back and he is important for us.”
However, not everyone was pleased, including experienced journalist Fernando Kallas.
“I’m convinced he’s been called up just to be a showman. Like some kind of team cheerleader,” he said.
“First of all, he hasn’t played for Brazil in three years, and he’s been in Brazil for a year and a half without playing three or four consecutive matches.
“Are you going to tell me that a player who’s been injured for a month, recovering, and who wasn’t physically fit before the injury, is going to arrive at a World Cup with the intensity we’re seeing and play? I don’t think so.
“I think he’s come here as a figurehead, I don’t know if a leader, but perhaps this generation needs a leader like Neymar.
“But I don’t see him contributing in this World Cup,”
