Davide Ancelotti is ready to take a second attempt at solo coaching with Ligue 1 side Lille.
LOSC announced the departure of the highly-rated Bruno Genesio this week at the expiration of his contract, with the tactician being chased by Marseille.
Lille president Olivier Létang clearly knew the departure was coming, and has wasted no time at all in agreeing a deal with Ancelotti.
The 36-year-old has signed a two year deal in northern France.
However, Ancelotti may not be in situ for the start of pre-season, as he will continue his role as an assistant to father Carlo with the Brazil national team.
Lille training will begin on July 1st, which is when the World Cup round of 32 takes place, and the final is scheduled for July 19th.
Lille announced Ancelotti signing
Lille said in a statement: “His natural authority and his sporting management, particularly on the psychological level, make him a leader respected for his calm and his humanity.”
Ancelotti added: “I am very proud and happy, and I thank President Olivier Létang for his trust and for this opportunity.
“We talked a lot, and I found a real connection, with shared ideas and values.
“The LOSC project is a perfect fit for me, with its clear identity, high standards, and commitment to hard work. It’s a serious, ambitious, competitive club that regularly competes in European competitions. It’s an honour for me to represent LOSC today.”
Letang said: “Davide is a consummate professional, possessing all the qualities and skills of a modern coach.
“I have known him for many years and have closely followed his progress at the highest level, in the wake of the legendary Carlo Ancelotti.
“His vision of football and his approach to coaching are both rigorous and highly relevant. We were very impressed by his energy and determination, and by his maturity and experience.
“We are convinced that he is ready and has all the necessary skills to lead and develop LOSC’s sporting project, thanks to his technical abilities and experience as well as the human values he embodies.
“Davide aligns with our values; he shares them and is also intimately familiar with the project we have been developing for LOSC for over five years now. We are extremely pleased to welcome Davide and wish him a warm welcome to Les Dogues.”
Davide Ancelotti’s career
Highly-rated along side his legendary father, Davide was linked with a string of sides when the pair left Real Madrid last summer.
After opting against Leicester, Rangers and Southampton, he later made the poor choice of Botafogo.
The Brazilian crisis club, run by John Textor, only gave Ancelotti a few months of average performances.
He then returned to his father’s side upon his sacking.
