Cristiano Ronaldo’s chances of ending his Al Nassr major trophy drought have increased with some big news at Al Hilal.
Star January signing Karim Benzema is suffering with an adductor injury and will miss their next match.
The club said in a statement: “Karim Benzema will not travel with the team to Al-Qassim due to adductor pain.
“He will undergo a scan this Tuesday to assess his injury and determine its extent.”
Should there be any form of damage to the muscle, Benzema could be out for weeks, handing Nassr a huge advantage in the Saudi Pro League title race.
Benzema switched Al Ittihad for Hilal in January which led to a protest from Ronaldo who sat out, believing the Saudi Public Investment Fund were favouring Hilal.
His protest had no impact with Hilal getting the deal done and Benzema scoring a hat-trick on debut.
However, without the Ballon d’Or winner things look increasingly complicated for Hilal who currently aren’t on league-winning form.
A draw at the weekend to Benzema’s former side Ittihad allowed Nassr to move back ahead of them in the table.
Yet they aren’t first, as Ivan Toney’s Al Ahli have that spot by a point, but with a game more played.
