Cristiano Ronaldo’s chances of finally winning a major trophy with Al Nassr have hit yet another stumbling block.
Nassr ended their poor run of form and even recorded four straight wins as title rivals Al Hilal twice drew, reducing the gap at the top of the league to three points.
However, Hilal are now set to fight back in brutal fashion with the signing of Karim Benzema.
The Ballon d’Or winner has stepped away from Al Ittihad over an ‘insulting’ contract offer, and now transfer insider Fabrice Hawkins says he’s staying in the Saudi Pro League with Hilal.
The news shows just how tough Nassr have got it, with coach Jorge Jesus previously suggesting favouritism towards former side Hilal, despite being owned by the league, like Nassr.
He said earlier this week: “What I want and need is one thing, the reality is another.
“During my time at Al Hilal, when I needed a player I simply informed the management. At Al Nassr the situation is different.
“When I want a player, I have to talk to Simão [Coutinho, sporting director] and Semedo [CEO], they spend a lot of time looking for solutions with the management.
“In the end, sometimes they can’t afford the transfer fee.”
