Beware – this is a Nike and adidas free zone, and with good reason.
With the two major players trying their best to milk the paying public for £90 third and fourth kits, the likes of Joma and Kappa have stolen an incredible march.
Despite repeats and redesigns across Europe’s top leagues, there is pure original gold elsewhere, and foot.mundo is here to show you the best of the best for 2024/25, starting at no.10.
10: Werder Bremen home, Hummel
The Bundesliga is normally the worst in Europe for kits with the vast majority of teams wearing samey red and blue strips. Bremen have long stood out, and their outfit for the new season does even more so. The Hummel number uses an original strip-into-check pattern and is inspired by the city’s flag. Naby Keita will be gutted that he can’t wear it.
9: Napoli away, EA7

While white is the colour of Real Madrid, their strips are never going to stand out with adidas. EA7’s attempt at the colour has taken it to a whole new level, though. Their Napoli number is bold and blocky, and stands out to quite an impressive extent.
8: US Triestina home, Kappa

Our first Kappa entry and far from the last is with Serie C side Triestina. Keeping things incredibly simple, Kappa also makes the block red and white strips incredibly effective with some gorgeous little details like the logos on the home collar.
7. Estoril Praia home, Kappa

It’s hard to compete with Portugal’s big three, but thanks to Kappa, Estoril Praia are well ahead of Porto, Sporting and Benfica with their new kit. It’s simple, classy and makes the most of the clubs identity by showing off with their colours and logo.
6: Augsburg third, Mizuno
Augsburg may be the least interesting team in the Bundesliga, but they have by far the most interesting third kit. Mizuno had already done well with the first and second, but the third is something special. Embossed with Roman print harking back to the city’s foundations, the burgundy strip it taken to a whole new level thanks to gold detailing.
5: SM Caen home, Kappa
Kappa. Again. This is like when Zoom took all of Skype’s users during lockdown. The Italian brand go close to the lairy, but are clever enough to just hold off with Caen’s new colourful home kit. The colours and patterns are have maybe been seen elsewhere, but the combination of the three could go down in folklore.
4: DAC 1904 home, Macron

A colourway not seen that often in Europe, we have to go all the way to Slovak side DAC 1904 for the best blue and yellow strip on offer. It may not be long before it’s a famous one, though, thanks to Macron’s stunning effort.
3: Red Star home, Kappa

The Parisien side may be the second most famous Red Star, but they’ve certainly got the best home kit this season. Once again, Kappa have knocked it out the park, using the Ligue 2 side’s red white and green to make a striped kit for the ages.
2: Athens Kallithea home, Kappa

You’d almost certainly never heard of Athens Kallithea, but and if you have at some point down the line, it will likely be thanks to Kappa, rather than their promotion to the top-flight Greek Super League. The big stripes and big collar are utterly iconic and will make this one of the team’s most glorious seasons.
1: FC Versailles home, Kappa

Would it shock you if number one on our list was Kappa? No. Probably not. However, it may shock you that it comes from a third-division French semi-professional side by the name of FC Versailles. With a photoshoot of legend, the bold and brilliant strip is Kappa’s best effort of the summer.
