The Saudi Pro League’s biggest spenders are feeling the pinch with Darwin Nunez.
Al Hilal bought the Uruguayan striker from Liverpool last summer for a substantial €53million.
Nunez made some impact, but not enough to convince his employers, who upgraded to Karim Benzema in January.
That deal meant that Nunez was then taken out of their league squad due to surpassing the maximum number of foreign players.
Hilal have since been desperate to shift Nunez, who has been tentatively linked to Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
However, they were only entertaining a sale due to the massive outlay on the forward.
Al Hilal force Darwin Nunez onto the loan market
Yet reports from Saudi now claim Hilal have had to take drastic measures with no sides coming forward with an offer.
Hilal are now open to loans for Nunez, just to get him off of their books.
Further reports claim that Nunez is also keen to leave and give up much of his mega salary to secure an exit.
Links to former side Liverpool appear to have been wide of the mark, and now claims about an MLS transfer to Atlanta United are being mooted in Uruguay.
