French World Cup winner Adil Rami has been forced to apologise after his extraordinary Twitch rant at Lamine Yamal went viral.
The former Valencia and AC Milan defender went on a brutal rant against the Barcelona starlet after a summer where he went on holiday with Neymar and created unwanted headlines over his 18th birthday.
“It’s been two months, humanly speaking, I can’t stand him anymore. That way, it’s clear,” he said.
“I don’t give a damn, guys. If there are some who are happy, not happy, Barça fans, Lamine Yamal fans… I don’t give a damn.
“I’m telling you the truth. Football-wise, nothing to say. A star, and he’ll certainly win Ballon d’Ors, European Cups and whatever you want.
“Humanly speaking, f*** your mother. That way, it’s clear.”
Rami has since faced a huge backlash, and put out a statement amusingly claiming he was insulting the mothers of Lamine’s fans rather than the player’s mother.
“So I’m clarifying. Because it was clearly misunderstood,” he wrote on Instagram.
“I wasn’t talking about the footballer Lamine Yamal, nor his talent (which is enormous, nothing to say about that), but about certain recent attitudes. Which, in my opinion, suggest a somewhat shaky future if things continue like this.
“And of course. It was a metaphor (admittedly clumsy) and in no way an insult to his mother or his family.
“I hope he gets his head straight, though. Because he has the potential to make his mark on his era… in a way other than with buzz like that.”
