Zinedine Zidane has been without a coaching job in three years, and has now revealed why.
A legend as a player and manager, Zidane won three Champions League titles at Real Madrid before his second departure in 2021.
Since then, he’s been linked to a string of the world’s top sides, with Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Juventus all seen their names placed alongside his.
Yet despite that, Zidane has remained on the sidelines, and has now revealed why he would never join United in particular.
“Would I want to go to Manchester United? I understand English, but I’m not fluent,” he told L’Equipe.
“I know there are coaches who accept coaching clubs even if they don’t speak the language of the country, but I work in a different way.”
He added: “There are many elements to winning, it’s a global context. I know what I need to win.”
