Barcelona manager Xavi believes his decision to leave the club has helped his players.
Barca beat Celta Vigo 2-1 on a weekend that Real Madrid drew with Rayo Vallecano.
The result means Barca have 12 points from 10 since Xavi announced that he would be leaving after a 5-3 loss to Villarreal on January 27.
Speaking post-match, he said: “The decision I made was for this, since I announced my goodbye we have added 10 points out of a possible 12.
“I’m very happy with the team’s reaction.
“I have the feeling that we played well until the last third, there we needed to find the final pass, but we were well positioned, correct in the losses possession and they did not generate chances.
“They have done a good job. It was an agonizing victory, but welcome.”
Despite Xavi’s belief that Barca have improved, president Joan Laporta doesn’t quite agree.
The executive was widely reported to have lost his cool after a 3-3 draw against Granada last time out, and is ready to replace Xavi if he loses to Napoli in the first leg of their Champions League tie.
