Things are going well for Xavi at Barcelona with his season peaking against Napoli in the Champions League.
The Catalans stormed past their Italian opponents with a dominant display in a 3-1 win that was inspired by youth and attacking vigour of legendary past Barca sides.
In LaLiga things have improved too, with Barca cutting a 13-point title deficit to seven points, and looking again like a coherent team.
This all comes after Xavi announced on January 27 that he will leave the club.
The iconic midfielder, who won LaLiga last term in his first full season, said that he made the call to quit for the benefit of the team, namely to alleviate pressure.
Doubling down on that point after reaching the quarter-finals of the Champions League, Xavi had a big smile on his face.
“I already said that the players were going to improve with the announcement of my departure, but you didn’t believe me,” he said.
Fermin Lopez later added: “We have always believed in the coach until the end, we do feel more liberated because he gives us that peace of mind.
“I hope Xavi can stay at the club. We’re here with him until the end. I will always be grateful to Xavi because he trusted me.”
