Former Real Madrid man Wesley Sneijder has hit Barcelona where it hurts.
The ex-Dutch midfielder was responding after his old side were beaten to LaLiga by Barca.
It ended up being a second trophyless season for Real, while Barca took home the league and Supercopa.
However, Sneijder was keen to point out Barca’s lack of success in Europe, something the players and president regularly commented on being their main aim this season.
“It’s a club that hasn’t won the Champions League in over 10 years, that fails in Europe and is humiliated every two seasons,” he said.
“Then they celebrates league titles as if they had conquered football again.”
Having finished with the playing staff, Sneijder then turned on the fans for comparing Lamine Yamal‘s stats as a teenager to Cristiano Ronaldo’s.
He continued: “The fact that Barcelona fans are comparing an 18-year-old to Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of league titles says everything about how low the standards have fallen at that club.
“Cristiano Ronaldo dominated England, Spain, Italy, and Europe for almost 20 years.
“Barcelona fans should be more concerned with getting through the Champions League stages before trying to mock one of the best players in history.”
