Vinicius Jr’s latest fan exchange has been criticised in the Spanish media.
The Brazilian played the final 30 minutes in Real Madrid‘s 3-0 win over Real Oviedo and stole the headlines from matchwinner Kylian Mbappe.
Assisting the Frenchman’s second goal, Mbappe then covered Vinicius‘ mouth as he appeared to be shouting something inappropriate and the winger was later booked for diving.
Booed by the Oviedo fans during his cameo, he then scored the third in stoppage time, and then did what many deemed unacceptable.
Vinicius gestured with two fingers and then pointed down, interpreted as him telling the new LaLiga side they were going straight back to the second tier.
Vinicius has made the gesture before, but this time he appears to have overstepped the mark.
Former Oviedo goalkeeper Esteban Suárez commented: “Vinicius has a social problem.
“He plays for the first time at the Tartiere and gets booed by 30,000 people. He’s never played here before and he tells people ‘to go to the Second Division.’”
Cadena SER’s Antonio Romero added: “They’ve called him ‘idiot’ from the stands. Now, why does it always happen to you?
“This moment should serve as a time for reflection, to identify where he’s failing and to listen to what his coach, Xabi Alonso, has to say.”
