Vinicius Jr had a chaotic night even by his standards in Real Madrid’s 1-0 LaLiga win over Getafe.
The Brazilian was a 55th minute substitution away at their Madrid neighbours and played his part in the three points without scoring or assisting.
Vinicius caused two red cards for Getafe either side of Kylian Mbappe’s matchwinner, and he performed some theatrics on the ground during his show.
Allan Nyom had just come on when he took down Vini for a red, and according to opposition coach José Bordelas, he was mocked by the player.
“Vinicius came up to me and said, ‘Very good substitution,’” Bordelas said.
“He doesn’t need to come and provoke me and say that. Vinicius is touching his face and pretending to be an attacker. For me, that’s not a red card, it’s at worst a yellow card.”
Three minutes after that red Mbappe scored in the 80th minute, and then four minutes later Alex Sancris saw a second yellow for a foul on Vinicius.
Getafe defender Juan Iglesias then told him: “That’s why everyone hates you, take your teammates as an example.”
Speaking post-match, he said: “In football, there are a lot of clashes, it’s part of the game. But you can’t get away with everything. You have to respect others. When you don’t respect them, sparks fly and nobody likes that.”
