Bolivia tried everything against Uruguay, and still couldn’t win.
The two sides clashed in CONMEBOL qualifying and played out a 0-0 draw.
Bolivia is famously one of, if not the hardest away matches in international football, given that the country is at such high altitute.
The match was scheduled to be in La Paz, 3,600 metres above sea level, but the football association successfully moved it to El Alto, 4,150 metres above sea level.
The effects of the decision were clear when, in the 89th minute, Uruguay captain and Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez had to administer himself some oxygen from a cannister pitchside.
Yet Uruguay held on for a draw which leaves Bolivia out of the qualification spots which saw fans turn on federation president Fernando Costa, who got aggressive back.
His son, Antonio Costa, who owns a Bolivian side, also got involved with supporters and had to be held back by stewards.
