After a season from hell, Uli Hoeness is back loving life at Bayern Munich.
The Bundesliga giants saw their 11-year league title-winning streak ended last season by Bayer Leverkusen and they finished the campaign trophyless for the first time in 12 years.
This term things are looking far more rosey. New head coach Vincent Kompany has taken the shackles and been rewarded with eight wins and two draws in 10 games plus 33 goals scored.
Last year’s unbeaten champions Leverkusen have a loss and five draws, while their closest challengers, Leipzig, are stumbling away, giving Bayern a five-point league lead.
The always vocal honorary president Hoeness is enjoying himself again, and gave a comment to Kicker.
“It couldn’t be better,” he said. “We can finally sit back and relax after a long break, the other clubs are the ones who are worried.”
