The ramifications of Thomas Tuchel’s disastrous Bayern Munich tenure are rumbling on nine months later.
The current England coach announced his separation from Bayern in February 2024, but stayed until the end of the season as the Munich side saw their 11-year Bundesliga-winning streak come to an end.
Among the issues during Tuchel‘s time at Bayern was his constant transfer complaints, including trying to force Leon Goretzka out of the door.
Goretzka has since recovered from his humbling and is back his best for club and country.
And now Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has laid the blame solely with Tuchel.
“I would also like to clarify that in 2023, when we held the summer transfer market, it was not a Bayern Munich official, but the then coach who no longer wanted to see him at Bayern Munich,” he said.
“To this day, I don’t think any official has ever said anything negative about Leon.
“That was the case with Thomas, which was difficult enough, and then when it’s constantly being reported in the media, it’s doubly difficult.”
To further put Tuchel’s judgement in doubt, Bundesliga.com have called him Germany’s best midfielder, while Julian Nagelsmann was full of praise after his goalscoring showing in a 2-1 Nations League win over Italy.
“Leon played an outstanding game, defensively too. He was often in the box,” he said.
“He played a top-top game. For me, he was the MVP of the game.”
