Heavily linked with a move to MLS, Bayern Munich legend Thomas Muller isn’t sure the country’s current political climate will deter him.
The forward is currently in the US for the Club World Cup before his Bayern contract expires and was asked about the possibility of staying there amid links to LA Galaxy.
With riots currently taking place in Los Angeles in response to forced evictions, Muller gave his response some thought.
“Of course you notice it,” he said.
“If one were to allow political, fundamental world events to flow into one’s daily actions, if one were not able to separate things, it would be difficult.
“You notice things, you think about things. It’s not just about what you mentioned; the whole world’s events are always nerve-wracking.
“Information is shared quickly and globally, you get a lot of information, and a lot of it isn’t all that rosy. Everyone probably struggles with that.
“As I said, I try to separate things. It’s not just about the specific issue that was being discussed. We’re in the same situation in Germany. From regional politics to riots to what happened yesterday in Austria something is constantly happening in the world.
“Perception is good, reflection is also good, drawing conclusions for yourself about how you want to move through the world: that’s completely clear. But I don’t see a direct connection to my future plans.”
