New Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has made sure to correct Thomas Muller.
The former Leipzig and Gladbach director was confirmed as Bayern’s new main man, and held a press conference to discuss his ideas.
Among other things, he also commented on Muller’s recent statements about Bayern not having time to develop players.
After a 2-1 win over Leipzig, Muller said: “If the results don’t suit us, then there is no place for developing youngsters.
“We have to work every Saturday and every Wednesday, ideally not even with the score 2-1, but at least 3-0.”
Referencing those remarks, Eberl said: “Thomas said that development at Bayern Munich is difficult or not possible.
“I do believe that it is possible. It must be possible to lead Bayern successfully and win titles and shape development.
“Christoph Freund proved this outstandingly in Salzburg. I think I also found one or two really good players who then maybe became a top star after six months.
“At FC Bayern it is at a somewhat higher level than at the clubs where I previously worked,” Eberl admitted: “But it will also be possible to develop these young and perhaps somewhat inexperienced players at Bayern.
“I fondly remember when Thomas Müller himself came onto the pitch, Philipp Lahm or Bastian Schweinsteiger… they also developed and eventually became world stars and world champions. That’s definitely possible at Bayern Munich.”
