Thibaut Courtois is one of the most savage public speakers going, and didn’t even hold back on one of his Real Madrid teammates.
The Belgian loves a media spat, whether it’s with managers or former teammates, but this time it was a current one – Raul Asencio.
The Madrid academy graduate was at fault again at the Club World Cup, out of position for a ball over the top and having to haul down a Pachuca striker for a clear red card.
Madrid went on to win 3-1, but Courtois made sure to send a message in his post-match media scrum.
“It’s not easy to play with one less player,” he began. “They’ve gone after us several times and they punish us there.
“It may be a strict red card, but it’s two matches and the same mistake twice.
“He needs to be a little smarter and not make that mistake.”
Courtois then showed some support, adding: “He knows it and there’s no problem, we’ll fight for him.”
